The Core Technologies of Pet Trackers: GPS and Communication Networks

The working principle of pet trackers primarily relies on two core technologies: GPS (Global Positioning System) and communication networks. GPS is a global navigation system that provides precise geographic location data for pet trackers. When you wear the tracker on your pet, the device uses its built-in GPS module to obtain the pet's location information in real time.

This technology works similarly to the navigation systems on smartphones we use daily. When the pet tracker receives signals from multiple satellites, it calculates the distance to each satellite, thus determining the pet's precise location. In this way, the tracker can update the pet's location in real time, whether it is at home, in a park, or in an unfamiliar environment.

In addition to GPS, pet trackers also transmit information through communication technologies such as mobile networks, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Some high-end trackers also have LBS (Location Based Services) functionality. In areas with weak GPS signals (such as underground parking lots or high-rise buildings), LBS helps the device determine the pet's location by connecting to nearby mobile base stations.
